I love Mick's Chile Fix. This delightful, and actually quite spacious, restaurant recently celebrated one year at its current location on Candelaria a block West of Carlisle, pumping out delicious food five days a week. (Sunday and Monday, seek sustenance elsewhere).

Mick's is known for their generous portion sizes and fair prices as much as for their smooth, flavorful chile, which always tastes great, if not especially spicy. Breakfast burritos are massive, and always delicious, no matter which meat you choose (or, get The Shocker, which has it all). Perhaps the most indulgent of all is The Summit: 3 scrambled eggs, hash browns, beans, sausage, bacon, ham, chile, and cheese, with an additional egg on top, smothered in fries.

The carne adovada here is also top-notch; indeed, there are few places that do it better. Today I had the carne and huevos for breakfast, with the eggs over easy, plus a side of rye toast. I requested plenty of lettuce and tomato garnish, and the kitchen was happy to oblige. Everything was fantastic. For $0.99, the two thick slices of rye toast, crispy and buttery, was a great call.

One of the things that I admire about Mick's is that it's an inviting, inclusive space. Blue collar, white collar, young professionals, retirees, families, friends. Everyone is welcome here. They also show a lot of respect for veterans and members of the armed forces. Don't wait another minute: plan your visit to Mick's, now.

One of my favorite places in the city for carne adovada. The staff are wonderful and friendly. They really know how to take care of you. I absolutely love the carne burrito smothered in green. And it's HUGE for such a low price.
They are definitely the go to place for good chile and burgers, also outstanding, just overall good food.
I just wish they were open Monday's so I could get it more often!

Mick's has a nice, bigger space NE of their former location. (Used to be Milton's.) Mick's is clean and comfortable. They have a small play area for the children. Mick's definitely has a regular crowd: The place was still busy at 1045!
Partner was wanting a burger; he opted for the open face, knife and fork kind-smothered in Green Chile. It was really good! I got Wednesday Special; Smothered Burrito. I had several choices. I opted for Carne Adovado but had it topped with Green Chile.
Both plates were big-really big! There was a lot of really tasty Chile and cheese. The Carne was good.
My complaints are: My plate was only hot in the center of the burrito. The fries on partner's plate were lukewarm and not crispy.
Damn, some really good stuff at Mick's. Details to hot food and crispy fries, please!
Service was friendly. However, 3 different staff waited on us. Perhaps why the food wasn't hot?

The dining partner in crime and I stopped here for breakfast. We wanted something quick and hearty before we went fishing and this fit the bill nicely.

Good selection of breakfast options and more than reasonable prices for the amount of food served. I generally like red over green chile but here the green was better--good flavor and heat.

Friendly service and easy parking. A good option for breakfast!
